Artist’s Statement

I've known I wanted to be an artist from the time I was old enough to hold a crayon. Expressing myself with images has always been natural, and felt easier and more precise than with words. Throughout my life, I've explored many styles and media, and continue to do so, but the desire to invite the viewer to understand my thoughts through color, texture, and composition remains consistent. Currently, I gravitate towards mixed media, combining my drawings with acrylic paint to create pieces that abstract representation to evoke specific moods. In the past few years I've also extensively explored digital painting and drawing with my iPad. I love the freedom of carrying an entire art studio with me wherever I go and being able to endlessly explore different styles. At times, I combine these two approaches, drawing digitally and then collaging those images into a physical piece, and vice-versa, creating with traditional media and combining or refining those works digitally. No matter how I create the goal is the same, connection and dialogue with my viewer.

An artist and graphic designer who's a fan of the sciences, especially entomology and paleontology. Attended the Cleveland Institute of Art (founded in 1882) and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Currently residing in Seattle, WA.
